This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How amazing would it be to have a Gifted area that looked like a classroom complete with a unique gathering area rug? The Gifted students would feel more at home in a learning environment with a gathering rug. They can read the Oceanography Magic School bus books on our new rug!

My students are Gifted.

They come from 2 different title I low socioeconomic schools. The schools are very focused on state test scores. The Gifted program is a once a week pull-out program where the students come to be challenged and enriched. My students are very bright and deserve to have nice educational things for Thier learning.

My Project

At one of the schools where I teach, the Gifted program is located in a shared Science lab portion of the classroom. The students do not have a gathering area carpet where instruction can take place. This carpet would allow the students a comfortable area where they can listen to literature, and Gifted instruction. Our thematic unit in Gifted this year. The Magic School Oceanography books with read along audio books will take the students on a reading adventure on our new Ocean gathering area carpet.

Donations to this project will improve the classroom area by allowing the students to have a comfortable area in which they can read, and learn Gifted content.

My students have expressed to me that they don't feel valued in the space that was given because it is shared with the Science lab and it is very small. My students will really feel valued if the little space we do have is decorated like an actual classroom designed for learning.
