Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I will be working as a kindergarten teacher at a high needs, low-income public school. The majority of my students will be from low-income homes. My new school has the highest homeless population in the city at the elementary level and most of my students will qualify for free lunch.
Despite the challenges my students face on a day-to-day basis, they persevere through it.
They will be curious, imaginative, funny, creative, thoughtful and full of questions! I know they will develop a love for learning and their curiosity to learn will allow them to explore. I am confident that my kindergarteners will come to school each day ready to try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Watching my students grow from the first day of school to the last day is truly an inspiration! It is one of the highlights of being their teacher!
My Project
Kindergarten is one of the most memorable years a child will have during their educational experience. For many students, it is the first time they have ever been in a school. Kindergarten is a year of growth and development because they are learning and experiencing so much!
What better way than a reading corner?
The reading corner is a fun and independent way children can develop a love for learning and reading! They are able to pick up a book and read it or simply browse the pictures. Students will be able to get comfortable in this corner while exploring various books. The books available to them fosters this growth and love. The more books the more they are able to find their interests, explore new things and even read on their own!
