My Students

I have an amazing group of very eager five and six year old students who come to school and put a smile on my face every day! Our school is a very low income/high poverty level school with the majority of my class receiving free or reduced lunch. There are days when my students come to school just to get a hug and some loving, and I am there to provide that for them.

My students are very hands-on; I want to give them every experience possible that I can, to learn in ways I know they would not get outside of my classroom.

I want my students to come to school knowing that no matter what I am there to support them in every way possible, even if it is just by giving them a high five and letting them know that today they are going to learning something new!

My Project

In my classroom it is difficult to keep my students' attention while just sitting in a chair for a lengthy amount of time. With alternative seating such as bouncy balls and wobble stools, my students will be able to focus more and get more work accomplished.

Alternative seating promotes improved participation, desired behavior, higher academic performance while the students burn energy and are able to focus and give me their undivided attention.

I want to offer my students change in sitting positions and movement opportunities throughout the day to allow short burst of energy to be released while still keeping their attention.
