This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am so excited to teach 15 classes of scholars from 6-12 years old and nurture a community of learners where academic, social and emotional growth is fostered. Clay P. Bedford said, “You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”
My "Kidos" come in every day excited to learn and share.
We work hard to work hard. My students embrace the fact that we all do better by working collaboratively.
My classes have a wide range of abilities from autistic to gifted. we know that by respecting our friends in our class we are respecting ourselves.
My Project
I am the teacher of all of the first through fifth-grade students at my school.
“For each of us, financial literacy is key to living our daily lives with purpose and with dignity."
I will be developing and teaching a curriculum in which students learn basic economics. By the time children begin school, they’ve already experienced a lot in the financial world. They’ve watched exchanges of money for things they want; they’ve made choices such as which snack to eat or which toy to buy; and, they’ve experienced when there’s a lot or a little of something. These are among the basics of financial literacy. The curriculum will begin in first grade a spiral up to 5th grade. This will prepare students for real-life success in financial literacy. Curriculum concepts will be shared with families to encourage reinforcements to students of newly learned concepts.
