As of four moths ago, my students have been experiencing a water crisis is Jackson, MS. This means that they are required to boil their water and cannot drink from the water fountains at school. This also requires parents to send additional water with their children to school. My students are resilient and have to overcome numerous challenges. I tell the everyday that despite the challenges our city faces, we will endure.
We have received an abundance of water donations, but we are still in need.
With the cases of water that my students have received, they must be kept cold. Now that it is time for us to go back to school and the humidity in Mississippi, I am requesting a beverage cooler to keep the water stored in our classroom cold and readily accessible to them when needed.
