My students come from very diverse backgrounds and have very diverse needs. Many of my students are on the autism spectrum, and all have some type of special needs ability. We spend our entire day together working on those foundational language skills that are necessary to thrive in school classrooms.
In October 2018 our area suffered a great tragedy when we took a direct hit from Hurricane Michael, one of the largest hurricanes to ever hit the US.
We have come together in the aftermath to rebuild a bigger and better present and future for our students. We will continue to grow stronger and show the world we are Florida strong.
My Project
My students have been learning from home for over a month, and will continue through the year. Whether we return to a physical classroom for summer, or we are forced to remain distance learners, my students have many different needs for supplies, which include light materials for students with vision impairments, that can be used as a makeshift traveling "light box"
My students may be home learning, but I am ready to make summer rock for them!
With these supplies they will have learning materials and fun stuff to learn and create with. Since they have limited access to technology we have been creating interactive binders and task boxes for them to have hands on experiences. We also are working to make our learning area as close to school feeling as possible by setting up calm a calm reading area based on the summer theme we are carrying out this summer. We will be able to utilize these supplies both during our virtual learning lessons and the campus setting when we are finally able to return.
