I am the library teacher and art liaison of a high-needs school in a low-income neighborhood of New York. 86% of our students are English Language Learners and 95% receive free lunch.
My Art Club has 15 members from 4th and 5th grade who are talented artists and photographers. We've entered photography contests and won. We've entered art contests and won those. We've even entered essay/expression contests and had two winners from our school! Our Art Club is talented and we do all of our work with one pair of scissors! Often times our art entries need to be mounted on brightly colored paper and cut to specific sizes. We have our favorite pair of scissors to do everything from cutting crayons to oak tag.
When sending contest entries, student art work needs to look professional. We need a safe and durable paper cutter to trim all of our work so that it stands out from the best. We also need brightly colored paper to catch the eyes of all of the judges. Paper clips will hold all of our work together. These items will save time and energy.
Your donation will make it possible for small groups of students to be more independent. Students will have more of a sense of pride as they make art pieces look more professional.
