This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We need technology. Currently, I only have one working computer in my classroom. It is old and outdated. My students would love to use the four requested iPods to explore the Internet during learning center time.

My school is composed of about 75% English Language Learners.

Allowing them to access the core curriculum through technology is a way to get them excited and lower their affective filter. Many students of mine do not have computers or access to the Internet in their homes. The four iPods would provide many opportunities to help them close their achievement gap through the use of various educational apps that will help motivate and teach my students in new and exciting ways.

My Project

The iPods offer loads of free educational apps right at their fingertips. These apps range from spelling, reading comprehension, art, basic math skills, history, and science. Apps allow my students to access the core curriculum in a way that they normally couldn't. Their motivation is at an all time high when working on computers and they can't take their eyes off of the computer devices. Pairing technology with education is a way to motivate my students and help them close their achievement gap.

The ability to create a learning center with these 4 iPods will dramatically increase my students' motivational level and help engage them while learning the new Common Core Standards.
