My Students
The class of 2020 at our school will be special and unique. They are another graduating class that will be a part of a new learning experience being called Departmentalization. The children will change classrooms in the 5th grade for ELA and Math instruction. This procedure is typical of Junior High. In order to better prepare the children, this program continues to be piloted each September.
This will be very exciting for me as their teacher and the students as well; however, it brings about many challenges.
I love the children of this school because they are always eager and willing to take on new challenges and learning adventures. I am entering my fifth year at our school. I already introduced the children to new strategies and programs for learning and look forward to continuing. This will be a bit of a difficult task to provide the children with all the learning materials necessary to organize and engage their learning.
My Project
A Reading Bag allows students to take charge of their organization. Currently my students are making use of ziploc bags which are ripping and not large enough to hold all materials. Making sure students are organized is an essential component in motivating them to complete all necessary reading assignments. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given the opportunity to be more organized. They almost always bring home all necessary materials and are eager to share them with family.
My students are noticeably more responsible when given the tools to help them achieve this sense of responsibility.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them a way to organize when switching classes as well as bringing home assignment. The reading bags are the perfect solution. These reading bags will be extremely beneficial for all students but extremely beneficial to those students that just need that extra support in organization. They are perfect and can be easily used in the classroom and at home.
I have seen how this support in organization can positively affect my students work and reading lives.
