I set them on the path of pouring out their thoughts, and ideas on paper, now how do I keep the flow of materials needed to keep it going? I teach a highly energized group of second graders in a large city in a small and cozy school. Our school thrives on inculcating words of success, and believing in ones, self, approving of self, and getting better and better everyday.
The start of the school year began with supplies filling up my drawers. Now I'm at the end of November. I've overcome the obstacle of getting my second graders to write more that 1-2 sentences. I've fired up that motivation to write, to plan, to revise, and finally publish. They love getting to the publishing stage, because they love to create a beautiful cover, after all of their hard work. But they are going through the paper , and pencils so fast that I find myself telling them that they cannot have that pretty colored paper to do their covers. Then I get that look of disappointment. I don't just want that one drop out of their buckets, I want them to overflow with their words.
This project will help me to continue to inspire my students to want to do something that I love because they enjoy it. That is writing!
Your kind and generous support will assist me as I work hard to instill confidence and pride in my students as they bring all their hard work to a finale. By the way we use the "Writers' Workshop" model which encourages celebrating the students' published pieces.
