My Students

The students in my classroom are extremely bright students who need support to bring out their talents and strengths. They require many supports academically, behaviorally and with life skills. Our students often attend school without the basic supplies needed to learn and holes in their prior knowledge. Even with these challenges, I take great pleasure in my job because the laughter and excitement when learning lightbulbs ignite from my students.

Our students struggle daily with a variety of severe disabilities.

Their willingness to try new things and motivation to work hard shines through despite their social and academic struggles. In addition to the students in my classroom, other students called LINKS will benefit from these materials due to their help and support in social and academics areas. To teach and have the students feel confident in life skills, academic areas, and behaviorally is the main goal in our classroom.

My Project

Items acquired from this project will jumpstart a new basic program that will allow our students to participate in effective learning. The program will need activities and basic materials to enhance the learning of state content standards. Our students with disabilities struggle daily and require a variety of teaching methods for success.

Utilizing the educational activity books and materials will start a process and the organization of curriculum development for life skills and all academic areas.

Having activities in many disability areas creates a toolbox that supports individual students based on their needs. The basic materials like pencils, markers, and crayons will help complete activities that will enhance the learning of core instruction. Hands-on materials like the dice, feeling cards, and others will help as an extra sensory learning tool for our students.
