My Students
My scholars are lively group of 5th graders that live in a rural community in Hawaii. Students living in these areas often have limited resources and experiences that are usually available students their age living in the United States.
As their teacher, I hope to provide opportunities for learning for them through project based learning where they will be able to nurture their basic reading/math skills, encourage critical thinking and collaboration with others and empower them with the skills necessary to be successful 21st century learners.
These scholars amaze me each day when they are focused on what they are learning, when they are engaged in the lessons, and when they are excited about what they will learn about next.
My Project
This project is focused on providing basic school supplies to every scholar in our classroom so they can begin the school year prepared and ready learn. School supplies such as pencils, scissors, erasers, glue, markers, crayons, notebooks and folders are absolutely essential in the classroom. By being prepared and having what they need to learn, these scholars will start the school year off on the right foot. As their teacher, I cannot control what happens outside the classroom but I can try to make their school experience as productive as possible.
Starting the school year with school supplies essential to learning is something that every child should be able to have.
Students shouldn’t have to worry about not having a pencil or paper, but in reality, they do. By donating to this project you will be providing students with school supplies that are used throughout the whole school year. When classroom supplies and necessities are no longer a need- student’s creativity and learning has the opportunity to soar.
