This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love school and tell me how much they miss it during breaks. They love our classroom community, learning IN PERSON, and seeing friends. When we came back to school in November they were disappointed to hear that the playground was not open for use. This past year has taught them resilience and not a single student complained.
My Project
Students are not allowed to have recess at school during this time. However, the need to exercise, take a brain break from learning, and have fun with others is still there! Having their own personal jump ropes will be a COVID safe option to get some fresh air. Over my years of teaching Kindergarten it has been very adorable watching students work hard at learning to jump rope. A skill that is not easy for this age without regular practice! I would love to help students master this skill.
The building words magnetic kits are such a great tool for helping students become confident readers and writers.
In the past I have done this type of activity with shared letter tiles and this is not a safe option during the pandemic.
