Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"¡Yo puedo hacer esto! I can do this!" These were the words of a 6th grade English Learner as his group designed a model of an ancient Roman building. He was doing the scale model and woodworking in his shop class. English and Spanish language learners in our school continue to push the boundaries of their education through STEM.

Over 55% of our students receive free/reduced price lunch.

Because of their educational experiences, poverty will not be their future. The resiliency and creativity that our students demonstrate on a daily basis is the fuel that keeps our teachers motivated to provide our students with the best education possible in order to broaden their dreams.

We serve students in grades 6-8 from diverse backgrounds. We provide academic rigor, safety and hope to a student population made up of students living in high poverty, English Language Learners, and immigrants from Latin America, Syria and other countries. Many students are considered at-risk. Our school continues increasing the number of academic, STEM, cultural and community experiences provided to our students. Our goal is to prepare our students for success beyond school and to help them develop into healthy and productive members of our communities.

My Project

Our middle school students need your help in staying active and in good health during distance learning. Jump roping is one of the most effective exercises for physical activity. Every student in our middle school will get their own jump rope to ensure safety during this time of pandemic. All of our P.E. teachers have developed activity units focused on the use of the jump rope to get students motivated about physical activity and remaining physically healthy. Students will do presentations, will participate in games, and will build a healthy physical activity routine.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve our students' physical health, but also their mental and emotional well being through fun engaging activities.

The end result will be that students will have access to some basic equipment to help in their journey of developing and building a long-term health routine.
