Jumping Into Community Service

My Project

As physical education students, our primary focus is learning to use our bodies to promote personal health and wellness.

The greatest gift we can give ourselves and our community is to become the vehicle of change we hope to see in the lives of those we love and care for.

Jump rope skills are an integral part of the physical education curriculum and allow us to engage across generational and cultural divides to promote a unified community working towards a lifetime pursuit of health and wellness. Put simply, if we can learn to increase our personal health and fitness through a simple daily act of physical activity, we can encourage others to do likewise. Daily moderate to vigorous activity increases metabolism, promotes cardio-aerobic efficiency, and releases positive brain chemicals that allow us to interact with others. These new jump ropes will give us tools to learn to jump together, establish common rhythms, and build relationships on which we can develop our learning community and the world community beyond. If we can learn to feel good about ourselves here at school, we can begin to look beyond our world of brick and mortar to plan ways in which we can better the world for ourselves and our community.
