My Project

A few days ago, our beloved classroom trampoline (a staple in my autistic support classroom) broke and my students were devastated. Help me give my students a new trampoline and a rocking chair to meet their sensory needs.

A trampoline is a valuable tool in an autistic support classroom by providing a safe and effective way to address the sensory needs of students.

The rhythmic bouncing on a trampoline provides deep pressure input which can be incredibly calming and organizing for the nervous system. This type of sensory regulation can help students feel more grounded and less overwhelmed by their environment, potentially reducing meltdowns and improving their ability to focus on academic tasks.

Similarly, my students can use the rocking chair as a way of regulating their body which improves their on task behavior. It also gives them a space to comfortably decompress, decreasing disruptive behaviors.

By incorporating a trampoline and rocking chair into the daily routine, my students have a dedicated space for sensory breaks, allowing them to self-regulate and return to their lessons feeling more prepared and attentive.
