I have an AMAZING group of dynamic students who love to engage in new learning experiences and make connections. While in person, we generally embark in community based field trips about once a week visiting many places within our city and suburbs, such as science and art museums, restaurants, zoos, supermarkets, and more. Another part of our curriculum relies heavily on foundational life skills, such as cooking and kitchen hygiene. By collaboratively reading recipes and making food, the students have increased their self-esteem while learning practical skills.
My Project
In honor of our cohort of fantastic students, the Drexel Dragons, I am requesting some art supplies and multicultural books to start the school year. My students thrive in engaging in hands on projects and the supplies will nurture their creativity. Additionally, read aloud time is sacred and my students love to learn about other cultures and to be personally represented in the texts we read. The books will especially be useful to highlight the differences among us and spark new conversations about ways that we are all very similar.
