This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
After a summer break, my students need to return to regular routine of daily PE 4-5 days a week. I know they are so looking forward to being able to move and exercise in different ways!
In my class, students come to school with a wide variety of physical fitness or movement skills from zero jumping skills to skilled jumping or not being able to catch balls or bean bags to being able to do .
Some factors include lack of opportunity, weather conditions, living space , or lack of access to green space. I schedule physical education class in the mornings to accommodate their needs and get around the weather issue. The equipment that I am requesting are: a class set of jump ropes, the Swing and Catch Cups, and the triangle bean bags. What they have in common is that they are different from our school's standard PE equipment yet respects the students' level of skill they are at. Students respond well to the novelty of trying new PE resources when they feel safe about their level of skill and can try equipment they haven't seen before. I will be teaching and modeling the resources on different days and give them many opportunities to practice the skills related to the equipment over many weeks.
