My Students
My students don't have many opportunities to play outside with equipment in a socialized recess setting.
My students all live in a large inner city setting and most never get very far outside of walking distance from their row home.
Students tend to not participate in organized sports or activities outside of their normal school day. Many of my students have a lack of parental involvement at home.
My Project
All of our students have recess everyday outside and we have the recess equipment but we are just lacking a way to store and make the equipment accessible. A job box will allow us to lock up the recess equipment (basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, regular and Chinese jump ropes) outside on the playground. This will encourage students to play with one another and engage in physical activity on a daily basis.
This project will make our socialized recess initiative a reality!
All our students will have opportunities to play with one another and use sports equipment on a daily basis that they may not have access to outside of school. I believe this is a key component to a child's educational experience!
