This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Oh, I get it now!" When my students finally "get it" after learning a new concept, it is a good day for them and me!

I am currently teaching 5th grade at a Title I school in Southern California.

On our campus we have over 1000 students from Pre-K to 6th grade. So, as you can imagine, it is a busy place to be every day! With limited financial support from the student's homes and limited budgets, I am always looking for ways to try and fund new curriculum and projects!

My Project

With the implementation of Common Cores standards coming, we are going to need a few more resources to teach Math. As I look as the expectations for the 5th grade, I realize that not all of these expectations can be met using our current math adoption. With the help of the Jump Math curriculum, I am hoping this new program will help fill in the gaps of our current program. It is the goal to have the students learn the 5th grade Common Core math standards by the end of 5th grade.

With the Jump Math curriculum from AKJ Books, I hope to give my students another avenue to learn the Common Core standards.

Since the goal is to meet the standards, we need to have good materials that help us do this. Thank you for considering my project.
