As an early childhood educator, my job is to develop the love and joy of literacy before my students enter Kindergarten.
My students are all participant in the Early Childhood Special Education program.
They range in ages 2-5 and are enjoying their first experience in the public school system. My students have a range of developmental delays that impact their participation in the general education classroom. My students are curious, enthusiastic, sneaky and funny. They love play, movement and expressing themselves.
My school is a warm and nurturing community. The school embraces the youngest students and values the importance of their education.
My Project
Through Donor's Choose, I would like to request big books and materials to help engage my students in their love of literacy. My students need to learn in a variety of ways and learn best through tactile and highly visible materials. I would like to create Book Bags that will contain a big book and tactile materials to help all students access the curriculum and help them become excited about books.
My students will benefit from having tactile materials such as puppets and big books.
Students will be able to experience books and show their knowledge by using the materials to recreate stories and retell.
