This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work at one of the largest middle schools in my area which means we have a lot of students that are required to take physical education classes. Our budget in PE can be limited since the equipment we use is expensive and usually spent every year due to heavy use. I am also the school's basketball coach, and since we don't have gyms in South Florida, our basketball equipment can take quite a beating.
Therefore, I am in need of some high-quality basketballs for my school's competition team, along with basketballs for my six classes, along with a pump to keep the balls in tip-top shape.
Participating and learning about the fundamental of basketball allows kids to make lasting friendships, develop communication skills, and have fun learning the game.
For many of my students, playing on a basketball team would mean everything to them and something for them to look forward to. We need this equipment to make this happen.
