I teach a class of 28 amazing kindergartners who are eager to learn and deserve endless resources, experiences, and opportunities. They come from different backgrounds, have a wealth of experiences, and have a lot to contribute to our diverse learning community. They are eager for knowledge and engaging opportunities to learn.
I have a very diverse population at my school and in my classroom, with at least 50% learning English as their second language, and I teach at the most diverse school in the nation!
The children delight in activities that engage their minds and bodies, and they look forward to what each day of the exciting kindergarten world brings them! It is my job to inspire and motivate them in a variety of ways in which I reach the whole child.
My Project
Playtime is crucial to not only physical well-being but also to a child's emotional and social well-being. Playtime is essential to their development during the early years. Children learn to interact with others in a positive way, problem solve, collaborate, develop language, explore their imaginations and creativity, get fit, get healthy, and so much more through play.
I would like to give my amazing kindergartners JUMBO, life-size tiles to let their imaginations, team-building skills, and creativity go wild as they build forts, rockets, houses, buildings, etc.
These life-size magnetic tiles can be used for indoor and outdoor play with limitless building opportunities to encourage play in children. Just imagine how motivating these would be! The 20-minute sand timer would be to serve as a tool for turn-taking. Each playgroup of 5 kids would get 20 minutes to create, build, play and have fun!
The jumbo dice would be used indoor and outdoor physical exercises! The kids love jumping, skipping, hopping, dancing to their dice roll and count! How a simple tool like dice can be so motivating. The dice bring math, fitness, and play together.
