My Students
My students are awesome! They love to create art! We have been creating many art projects in many media.
My students are an energetic and enthusiastic group of elementary students from a city in Massachusetts called Lowell.
Lowell is an inner-city school district and faces many challenges such as funding art education. At home, most of the students have no exposure to art-making materials and techniques.
We love creating art! Unfortunately, we work within a very limited budget. I just placed my material order for the 2019/2020 school year. The budget provides less than one dollar per student per year. I was not able to purchase all the materials on my list to give my students a well-rounded art experience.
My Project
These materials will make the students very happy. They love drawing with Sharpie markers, but only when the markers are sharp and juicy. The budget provides less than a dollar per student per year. The average cost of a Sharpie is sixty-six cents. Five hundred students end up using the same seventy Sharpie markers over and over until they are all dull and dry.
We use Sharpie markers to draw and then we use watercolor paint to add color to make artwork.
Without Sharpie markers, the pencil lines are lost under the paint. We sign our artwork with Sharpie markers because the lines are permanent, bold, and clean.
