Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am inspired every day by my students. My students come from diverse backgrounds. They are always excited to learn and improve. My students are enthusiastic, energetic, and curious about the world around them. Their enthusiasm inspires me to create challenging and thought-provoking lessons. They always want more. I am a gifted/ESOL teacher in a public school in a suburb of Atlanta. I teach Math and Science in small groups. I presently serve about 50 students in two classes. My students are always up for a challenge. They thrive on challenging materials, probing questions, and interesting lessons. They amaze me every day with their "out of the box" thinking.
My Project
After receiving tablets we now need covers and charging stations. The tablets allow my students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. We have just received a class set of Fire HD8 tablets. Now we need the charging stations and covers to make these tablets functional in our room. My students will be using their tablets during independent work times, whole group class times, targeted learning time, and project based learning times.
The covers will allow 10 years to use the tablets and not break them.
The charging stations will allow my students to quickly get a tablet and replace it to be charged for the next day. Before these tablets my students did not have whole group access to computers in my room. Making sure students are equipped with the materials they need to do their best in school is an essential component in motivating them. These covers and charging stations will make the tablets more efficient and effective.
I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given technology. They are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are limited without the tablets. The covers and charging stations will make it able for us to use our new technology.
