This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all have mental health needs and are very unique! Despite all the challenges they face in their daily lives, they are still coming to school and trying to get a diploma. For some of our students, they are the first ones in their families to graduate high school.

Emotional Support students tend to have the worst lifetime outcomes and graduating high school is not easy for them - nationally, about 40% of ES students drop out.

I work hard to try to ensure my students don't become part of that statistic. Help me celebrate their creativity, talents, and individual needs through my DonorsChoose projects so they can see their potential and feel valued!

My Project

My students often request a drink after they return from gym class. They also have the opportunity to earn snacks throughout the day, which includes drinks. Some students only want drinks throughout the day, so I like to provide them with a variety of options. Right now with cold and flu season as well as COVID still raging, I am also trying to provide them with juice that has key vitamins to help them stay healthy and build their immune systems. Through trial-and-error, orange and apple juice and bottled water are highly requested items.
