Jr. Botball Curriculum and Coaching Training

My Students

I did not have opportunities to program computers as a child, but access to learning code is much greater to students in this generation. I am so impressed with the high level of coding curriculum that is available to children and how quick they are to grasp this abstract information presented to them.

My students are 4th and 5th graders that are excited about learning STEM.

They learn quickly and are able to take something they have been taught, manipulate it, and utilize the information to problem solve and create a solution to the dilemma.

My students are creative thinkers and are excited to learn code. Computers are very natural to them, and they are open and willing to learn and explore the world of STEM through coding robots.

My Project

I was able to learn parts of the Jr. Botball Curriculum alongside my students this year, and I was one step ahead of them the entire year. We had a great season, but I still have so much to learn! I have been accepted to the Pathfinders Summer Institute in the Jr Botball Curriculum Professional Development. I have the opportunity to receive a week-long training in the Jr Botball Curriculum, and training also includes a robot! I am excited about the opportunity to "dive into" the curriculum over a week's time and feel more grounded in the subject matter.

The professional development will give me a solid foundation of the robotics curriculum and allow me to coach my students.

The robot will decrease the "student to robot" ratio, allowing students more individual time with the robots.
