This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are motivated individuals. They try their hardest on all assignments. These students are in an English/science resource setting and come from diverse backgrounds that cause several challenges for these students. Their school setting allows these students more steps to achievement and success in their classes.
They are really interested in hands-on activities and anything that keeps them moving.
They become very motivated about the concepts being taught when they know they will be working with their hands to manipulate something. This project will give my students resources that they can use for multiple classes.
My Project
We are requesting The Call of the Wild and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow which will allow my special education students to follow along during the novel studies with their own copy in hand. Students will be able to highlight important information in the classroom copies. This will allow them to really focus on those important details from the story. The movies will give a visual representation of the stories, and allow students to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the two.
The underlying message is to give my students a sense of bravery and strength of self to stand up for themselves.
These stories have that theme and will give my students the idea that anything is possible if you only try.
