This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember learning vocabulary words but not knowing how to remember them? My students need tools for hands on activities.

My students are at a Math and Science Magnet School in a low-income neighborhood.

For some of them, the reading program is the only place they learn specifically new vocabulary words. They need ways to practice these words because just reading the story is often not enough, especially for our Spanish speakers.

My Project

I am requesting materials for my students to be able to work in cooperative groups to practice their words. Flash cards will be made and they will practice the definitions using coaching techniques. They will also be able to have the words and definitions up on a chart throughout the week so they can see the definitions all week long.

Without these supplies, students will not have these options with the new reading program our school just received.

We already have them for our old program, which is no longer being used. Therefore, they need these items to continue the progress we have already made.
