Help me give my students a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium - an experience that will teach them about marine animals and inspire a new generation of conservationists.
Dedicated, hard working, determined, curious, bright - these are some of the adjectives that describe my students.
"A different language is a different approach to life" - Federico Fellini
I teach American History to middle school students. Many of my students speak different languages and struggle with the basics of English. Instead of feeling different because they speak other languages, they embrace their differences and their cultures. In my History class, I feel like I am learning as much from them as they are learning from me.
My Project
Students will be able to experience one of the country's top aquariums, located right in their backyard. Students will participate in hands-on activities to learn an appreciation of the world below the surface.
Motivating future scientists - this trip will provide students with an opportunity to discover how marine animals are rescued, treated, rehabilitated, and how they themselves can aid marine animals.
Translators will be available to ensure each student is able to take the information they learn on this field trip and apply it to the environmental science standards that are part of the Virginia Science Curriculum. This trip will also promote equity by providing students with a wonderful opportunity they could not experience on their own.
