My Students

It breaks my heart that my fifth-grade students do not get to celebrate their graduation, go on their senior trips, attend awards ceremonies, and just be together! My students are learning from home now on Google Classroom. Every day I post their assignments and try to bring the fun we had in the classroom into their remote learning. However, it of course is just not the same as seeing their smiling faces and hearing their voices every day.

My Project

As the school year is coming to an end, my fifth graders will be going off to middle school. Daily growth mindset/gratitude journals will help my students regulate their feelings during this difficult time. The journals in this project are designed to focus on being thankful for what we have, the big things in life, as well as the simple joys. Since I can't be with my students over the summer I want to help them start each day by writing down three things they are thankful for - so that they begin each day on the right note! I hope my students will be able to focus on all of the good things they have in their lives. The journals will help them to keep writing over the summer while practicing having a positive mindset! practice being positive and appreciative.

Even tiny acts of gratitude can totally change the way kids think and feel.

I want my students to keep smiling and to make the most of this time with their families.
