it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a wonderful school with excited, motivated students. They always inspire me with their love of learning. Our school has a majority of high socioeconomically disadvantaged children. We are a Title I school with many cultures represented (mostly Latino and Vietnamese). Many of these students live in neighborhoods that tend to be unsafe and underprivileged which causes a lack of opportunities.
I truly believe in our motto of "preparing all children as global learners." I hope to give these students as many resources as they may need in order to become successful both in and outside of the classroom.

My Project
Students need an outlet for their thoughts and ideas. They need a place where they can write and get out their frustrations and joys in life. Every morning in the classroom they have Daily Writing time. The students will be able to use the special notebooks (that include composition books, pocket pal journals and steno notebooks) and pens to make this time more meaningful and distinctive from the rest of the day.
Journaling can be very therapeutic for children.
After having the opportunity to write about themselves and their feelings in the journals, they then have the opportunity to share with their classmates if they are so inclined. This is a great way to bond with each other in the classroom. It builds community and caring with each other. Journaling is beneficial to students in so many ways.
