This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students from the South Bronx are curious, inquisitive, enthusiastic and creative. I love to see their eyes light up when they’ve realized they too can create music. Many of my students come from challenging life circumstances, so it is wonderful to see their confidence rise when they are involved in the process of creating music.

As they become focused, avid learners, consuming everything about music they can from composing to performing, it’s amazing and heartwarming to watch them grow and be part of a music creating community.

I want my students to enter the classroom and have the tools and resources to create right at their fingertips so they'll be ready to learn, discover, engage and reach their full potential as participators in music learning and performing process.

My Project

Music education has been proven to help improve a child’s self-confidence and self-worth. These instruments and materials will make a difference in my classroom by giving my students the tools to participate in the process of making and creating music. Your generous donation will not only help to improve our existing program, but you will ultimately help to increase my students' academic achievement in other subjects as the skills they learn in music has been known to help with their success across all subjects. Giving students these resources and opportunities will help them and my music program grow and succeed.
