My Project
My middle school special education students need a class store to help advance their financial literacy and money management abilities. I aim to incentivize positive classroom engagement while equipping students with vital, lifelong money skills.
The class store will allow students to earn classroom currency through participation, good behavior, and lesson performance.
We will integrate financial concepts into their academic curriculum, teaching budgeting, saving toward goals, responsible spending habits, and how to exchange currency for goods.
Once per month, the class store will open for business! Students can use their earned classroom money to “purchase” motivating prizes and treats like art supplies, sports balls, snacks, and trendy toys. This creates an engaging, hands-on opportunity for students to put critical financial skills into action.
My special education students require multiple avenues to grasp multi-step concepts. A class economy and store will allow consistent money practice and skill-building while keeping students motivated via exciting rewards they can earn. Your donation directly provides the incentives and materials vital for this impactful learning tool that imparts practical abilities they will use for life.
This class store will not just teach middle schoolers about handling money, but also empower them with confidence and tools to manage their own finances independently one day. Please consider helping fund this essential hands-on learning project for my special education classroom.
