John Lennon All You Need is Love

My students need music CDs and musical instruments for our pre-k classroom.

I love teaching pre-k and I hear my preschoolers love pre-k. I love hearing music in our little homey classroom and the children love to sing. All you really need is love in all its forms. Children love to explore rhythm and movement and they love to sing. Preschoolers need to sing and our classroom could use some materials to help us along. Music encourages children to explore their feelings and to establish positive relationships with others. I teach 18 three and four year olds in a large, urban school in the Bronx. The children come from low-income families and many are learning English for the first time. I am in need of music materials for my classroom. The children need to learn popular songs such as "This Old Man" and "Five Little Ducks." I also need music tapes that can be played while the children are playing in their centers. They are learning songs and it provides a happy classroom atmosphere. I would also like to introduce my little ones to rhythm and music with colorful rain shakers. Music helps children feel happy and also teaches them to feel good about living, working and playing together! Music is an integral part of an early childhood classroom. Music helps engage the children in group activities, explore rhythm and movement, identify sounds, improve coordination and also builds phonemic awareness. Music could help my young students learn many early childhood concepts as well as build their self-esteem and cooperation skills. Singing together encourages every child to sing and remember tunes. Music will also help the many children who are learning English. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my proposal and for caring about the education of children.
