Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Technology and education have a closer relationship when connected with vibrant, outgoing, inquisitive students. Our students strive to meet STEAM and STEM curriculum that will enhance their future. We push to engage students in hands-on STEM learning outside the classroom. Our students are eager, energetic and very hard working. Our programs help them learn skills and talents through goal-setting and determination. Our students live in an area where we have seventy percent receiving free or reduced-price lunch due to living under the poverty level.
In addition to our economically disadvantaged population, we serve a large group of military students and a vast array of ethnic backgrounds.
This melting pot of stellar students transforms our school into a warm close-knit community. We have the greatest students; they are simply looking for amazing opportunities.
My Project
There is a different variety of supplies for this project due to the lesson and content covered for this unit. Students have multiple choices to choose from ranging from automotive technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, all the way to electronics and telecommunications. The mannequin head and comb set will be for students that choose to learn job skills for cosmetology. The students really get into the lessons because they actually have hands-on experiences styling and cutting hair. The digital thermometer, blood pressure machine, first aid emergency kit, pulse oximeter, stethoscope, and digital electrocardiogram will be for students that want job skills in the health care field. The culinary arts students will work with the tabletop electric griddle and scraper set to create delicious snacks for their peers. The lessons meet all college and career readiness standards as well as STEM-based curriculum.
This technology will surely lead all our students into a 21st-century classroom.
