Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright, creative, and ambitious individuals who actively pursuing their next step in the post secondary journey. My school's population is a majority of Latinx, first-gen students eager to pursue a post-secondary education. We hold a special event, Decision Day, where our students are celebrated on their "decision" of choice school. Our Decision Day will be 70's/Disco theme (student voted)! Our aim is to celebrate and recognize our students for all there efforts. These events are crucial in uplifting our communities of color and aiding in their success.
My Project
Our budget for our event is extremely small. We have used what funds we had for school supplies for our students when they enter college. These will be given out as a gift at the end of the event. Most of our requested funds/items will be for our actual event to make it a special day for our deserving students. We are hoping to use our funds for decorations and maybe even be able to get a few big-ticket items (speakers, LED lights, wireless chargers) for a raffle during the event.
