My Students
Our school is an academically successful, rural, high school that is filled to the brim with about 900 wonderful students. We serve our military community as well, pulling in students whose parents work at the USMC and Naval facilities at either Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, Bogue Air Field, or the two Coast Guard stations.
In the state's ranking system, our high-performing high school has been ranked as a top ten public high school in NC for eleven consecutive years.
Through our state's report card system, we have been given an "A" designation, the only school in our district or county to have such a mark. We have earned this distinction for the FIFTH year in a row. And we are very proud of it!
On September 13, 2018, our community was hit by Hurricane Florence. Almost exactly one year later, our county and community was hit by another hurricane - Hurricane Dorian. However, these hurricanes might have re-shaped us, but definitely won't define us. We are strong.
My Project
At CHS, we are starting a girls' lacrosse team. The team needs to fully fund itself because the school does not have the funds. This is an exciting time for our girls because they can finally represent their high school in the sport of girls' lacrosse.
As a coach, I am asking for help in purchasing our game jerseys and practice pinnies.
Starting a brand new high school program is not an easy task, especially since we have to fund it completely ourselves. Helping us purchase jerseys and practice pinnies will allow these girls to have their dreams come true of playing lacrosse for their high school. It is awesome that my student-athletes will have this opportunity to play this season because sports matter.
