My students need a class block printing starter kit, ink, and paper to learn the art of block printing.

My Students

Within my art classroom I seek to expose my students to many different cultures from around the world through art. Through art I am able to teach my students respect and value for things that may seem different to what they see in their everyday lives.

The majority of my students are from hard working, loving, second generation Mexican-American families.

My students educational growth thrives on experiential curriculum. My school does the majority of it's instruction through Project Based Learning. My goal is to team up with the classroom teachers to provide thoughtful hands on art lessons that support classroom learning.

My Project

My students will be using the block printing materials to learn about Japanese Cultural Arts in conjunction with the primary classroom learning about oceans and coastal communities. They will also be used again next year in conjunction with the middle school social studies unit teaching about ancient China.

This project will allow my students the ability to experience and create artwork from an unfamiliar culture.

This will also provide much needed small motor skills by learning precise carving techniques.
