This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school, which means our students come from low-income families. These families are busy with making sure their children are fed, clothed and in school. Many times these families do not understand how important it is to talk about math at home.

Our students need many opportunities to learn, practice and talk about Math.

They need to see mathematical concepts in many different ways; in games, on paper, in pictures and drawings and on the computer.

My Project

My students will be able to practice Math skills daily using IXL.com. As a teacher, I love this website because it allows me to pinpoint the exact skill I want my students to practice. It is also a very "clean" website in that there are no distracting graphics and noises. It targets specific skills and if a student gets a problem wrong, IXL.com will give an explanation showing the correct way to solve that problem.

The IXL website has the capacity to allow students to challenge themselves and work on higher-level math skills!

Students enjoy working on IXL because they like to see their "smart score" go up with every correct answer!
