Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher at a school with 70% English Language Learners. I am always looking for different ways to reach my students. To give them hands on experiences and create real-world connections is what drives me as a teacher.
My students LOVE to learn!
They are always up for a challenge and love to learn new things. In the first grade there are many important skills that students are expected to know by the end of the year. This year is the foundation for reading and writing.
Our school is Title I where many of the students do not have the same opportunities that other students may have. We are 100% free and reduced lunch. My goal as a first grade teacher is to help foster their love of learning at an early age.
My Project
Technology plays such an important part of my students' academic success. Our reading and math curriculum are all presented on our interactive white board. Our school has adopted many blended learning programs such as iReady, ST Math, and Smarty Ants. Students are required to complete weekly goals to help keep them on track towards academic success.
This requested Apple iPad and Apple Pencil will bring our classroom tech to a new level.
In our classroom, we have no tablets. Students love the accessibility of a touch screen device. This iPad will be used to connect to our interactive white board to help bring our reading and math curriculum to new levels. Students will be able to use the tablet to complete their blended learning programs, such as ST Math and Accelerated Reader. I will be able to download books and audio books for students to enjoy. The options are endless!
