iWish For An iPad Mini For Our Classroom
My students need an iPad mini to better extend their thinking (or review) in a fun and engaging way through technology.
Our society today is inundated with technology, so rather than fight it, I hope to embrace it. However, we do not have that technology available in our classroom, and I feel that my students are really missing out on some great opportunities!
I strongly believe that every child can learn.
However, I also know that every child learns in different ways and I do my best to meet their needs every day. My public school classroom includes 28 students (and growing) that are all unique in their backgrounds and knowledge. I have a sweet group of students who would love the opportunity to learn and engage their knowledge through technology.
For this project, I would love to receive an iPad mini. I have done a ton of research over the summer of the many apps that can be used to help my students in the classroom. In fourth grade, math fact fluency is a must and yet many times students don't come with their math facts memorized. An iPad mini would be a great, and fun, way to work on fact fluency.
Also, there are so many writing apps (and story makers) that I am just dying to try with my class! Writing can be a subject area that students really have a hard time getting motivated about but I KNOW that being able to create their very own book, using an app, will be just the ticket to get them all excited to write and share their writing with their peers!!
The last part about the iPad mini that I love is the ability to differentiate and be sure that each of my students gets exactly what they need, when they need it, and it can be so simple! This will be a great tool for ALL of my students, so I could go on and on
There are so many "fun" apps out there that adults play, but what about students?
It's amazing when you can teach a child without them realizing they are being taught. Students can learn using technology and have so much fun doing it, they won't even realize their knowledge is increasing. Not to mention, I will be able to differentiate for my students and assign them activities that will be meaningful to them with just a click of a button! How powerful is that??
