it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Pathfinders alum, I am always looking to apply the knowledge I've gained after attending the Pathfinders Institute. I've learned some Python, robotics, and how to use Microbits to control LEDs, servos, and motors in physical computing projects. Although I'm still learning, I'm inspired to bring what I do know to my middle school computer scientists and engineers!
My students love the autonomy, choice, and agency that open-ended project-based learning brings: they imagine a design to solve a problem, they build a prototype, and they work together to add movement, lights, sounds, etc.
As we become more accomplished at building things, we need more and more tools, so I'm asking for a comprehensive toolset and some fasteners to help us keep our forward momentum with our builds. We really take pride in knowing how to fix problems when they crop up, but it's hard to fix problems without the right tools. The golf and ping pong balls are helpful when we make different kinds of simple machines to test them. The rope lights, well, they're just for adding some style and pizzazz to our classroom! Last but not least, the miniature golf putters would allow us to play an actual game of mini golf with the mini-golf holes students have been building.
