Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very diverse with many of them coming from economically disadvantaged homes. Over 80 percent of them receive free or reduced-price lunch and face various barriers to achieving academic success. They come from homes where food is scarce and where there is not enough money to pay for life's essentials such as clothing, utilities, and school supplies. Too many have experienced trauma and are oftentimes absent. In fact, approximately 25% of our students are said to be chronically absent from school.
After being home for over 18 months of distance learning, there are many of our students who are eager, motivated and ready to learn.
They love to work hard and strive to be prompt, prepared, productive, positive and polite. Our students love to feel welcome and rewarded for being awesome. Each one of my students brings something special into my classroom every day.
My Project
These prizes will serve as a motivation for students to continue attending school and striving towards the highest. Unfortunately, too many times these students are not recognized for the great behaviors they exhibit.
My goal is to recognize as many students as possible who model our behavior exceptions by being prompt, prepared, productive, positive, and polite and those students who have zero behavior infractions could have a chance to win a prize in our monthly BullDog Bucks Drawings.
By supporting this cause we can show our young students that being a productive citizen can and will pay off for them in the future.
