My Students

I teach students in a title I school in central Florida. I work mostly students in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade with an occasional student in an intermediate grade. I work with lowest students in our school who need assistance in reading, math, independent functioning and social skills.

I work with students on IEPs who lack social skills and have behavioral concerns.

I want to help them exceed both academically and socially. I believe you can not educate a child until they are ready to learn. Until they are ready they will continue to make minimal progress and growth.

My Project

Often my students are very active and have high anxiety. I want to provide them with items that will assist them in being able to focus that is in a quiet and discreet manner. Due to the pace of the curriculum some of my students do not get the amount of brain breaks they need. The figits and wiggle seats will allow them to move without interrupting their flow of learning.

Items such as wiggle seats can allow them to move their core and get their wiggles out as they continue to stay on task.

Another way to help my students focus, especially during whole group instruction, is to give them something to hold that allows for movement. Their hands can stay busy while their brain can focus on the lesson.
