This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Words! Books! Journals! My students need exposure to a wide range of vocabulary found in children's literature in order to help them become successful writers.

I have a wonderful group of 2nd graders that are disadvantaged economically.

I would like to bring new literature & journals into my classroom in order to help my students start thinking creatively about their education and the world that they live in. Most of my students will never have the opportunity to take a series of independent creative writing lessons due to the cost; but, when I have had the opportunity to teach a series of creative writing lessons to my students in the classroom, they are active and engaged learners, ready to absorb new knowledge. Please help make creative writing in my classroom a reality. The smiles on their faces and the stories in their hearts will last a lifetime. You may just inspire the next bestseller!

My Project

Books with CDs will allow my students to read and reread quality literature in order to help them generate ideas and vocabulary in their own writing. New journals and pencils will allow my students to keep track of their writing all year in order to reflect on their own personal growth throughout the school year.

I want my students to fall in love with writing.

Each student has wonderful stories dancing around in his or her mind just waiting to come to life on paper. The gift of books on CD that students can listen to over and over again will help them remember story structure, vocabulary, author's viewpoint, as well as many other writing skills. As my students are able to listen to stories, they will also be able to use their journals to write down those wonderful stories in their minds.
