Each year eager little faces enter our classroom doors often bringing baggage. Some of my friends are unaware of the loads they carry to school. There is more awareness for students dealing with trauma and mental health support. I am trying to find little ways to shine a light on my students' day by giving them incentives and days that are special to just them.
Help me bring joy to my students and give them a special day for birthdays that makes them feel valued and loved.
I will use the chair cover for students to have on their chair for their birthdays. I will use playdoh, slime, pencils, pens, and erasers for birthday treats and rewards throughout the year.
I want to give my students incentives to look forward to throughout the school year. So much about our students' school day is structured and focused on lessons. I want my students to feel like a valued member of a larger family when little days are celebrated, like their birthday. By recognizing what might seem like a little thing will go a long way in building relationships with my students which eventually transfers to their academics.
