It's Time For Kids!!!

My students need Time for Kids magazines, multicultural CDs, and children's biographies for their literacy/social studies curriculum.

My Students

Reading Informational Text! Singing and dancing to multicultural songs my students can relate to! Reading biographies about the men and women who shaped our future in a "Just Right" reading level! This is what you could provide for my amazing students.

My students who come from a high poverty living environment often need that extra push to academic success.

I believe that can be done through differentiated learning environments such as literacy (non-fiction, biographies) and music and movement. These items will really give students a look at what current news is happening in our world as well as music and stories of famous people from the past. It's the perfect bridge of learning that my students need.

My Project

Time for Kids is one of the leading magazines for children, because not only is it as current as the adult read Time, but it's got that extra enticement for young learners. Bold pictures, captions, and other text features that make learning non-fiction/informational texts so important. I've added biographies of famous people (Harriet Tubman, Benjamin Franklin, etc.) to give second graders a view of the past as well. The multicultural cds will bring an added diversity to my already ethnically diverse class. Students can both learn about other cultures and feel "at home" when a song from their culture is sung and danced.

I thank anyone who is willing to donate to this cause.
