Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have built up an engineering design momentum this year. They have spent their time learning how to document their journey following the engineering design process. Currently, my students have reached a point where they are developing their engineering designer self-efficacy. It is important to note that most of my students are below the poverty line and can be identified as under-represented minority students. While they may come to school with various challenges, my goal is to provide an environment that promotes STEM development. This means, I need to provide challenging relevant projects that allow my students to learn STEM in the environment, as well as workplace soft skills. These solar panels, shaft propellors, and motors will teach students how to successfully design functional alternative energy projects.
