My Students
Entering high school is always a huge transition. Due to the pandemic, my 9th grade students are entering this new phase of their lives virtually, and my 12th graders are ending their high school journey this unprecedented way. Although it isn't the best case scenario, I am excited to make this school year a positive experience for them all!
With an increased need for technology, and this unique virtual learning experience becoming the "new normal", it is important to provide these brilliant minds with the opportunities they deserve to help them prepare for a successful future as well-rounded adults.
My goal as an educator is to ensure that I am able to foster and develop the flame within each of them as they embark on this new journey. My classroom is their gateway to deeper knowledge, greater understanding, and a more fulfilled life!
Young minds will bloom within this room... even virtually!
My Project
It is easy to believe that all students have access to technology, and are masters of using it. After all, it is 2020, right? WRONG! While most students have cellular phones, the hard truth is that many of them do not have computers at home. Even worse, they struggle when it comes to using devices for educational purposes. Although devices were offered to many students through the school, I still struggle to provide one-to-one access to my students. It is important for them to have access during class to utilize the online resources that assist me in maximizing their educational experience.
During this unprecedented time, not having consistent access to technology means FAILURE for students, so my students need Chromebooks to turn our classroom into a golden opportunity for success!
To fill in the gap, and address this need, I am counting on your help to add Chromebooks to my classroom for student use. Although, I am currently teaching my students virtually and in-person, all of our coursework is virtual. This means that my in-person students have to gain online access while in class. If they do not have a computer, their chances of passing are slim to none. Using online resources during class allows us to tackle many more Language Arts skills and helps increase their overall digital literacy. Chromebooks also help me provide a unique learning opportunity for my ESL students who use the devices during class to customize our lessons to fit their needs so that no learning opportunities are missed.
My students deserve the world, and with your help, I can provide it to them at their fingertips- one Chromebook at a time. Thank you in advance for your donation!
